Puli Murugan Movie Review

Rajini Murugan has nothing do with Rajinikanth, however Pulimurugan has much to do with PULI - Tigers.

Have you ever been through a Pugmark Trail - in an open jeep, safari into those expensive scapes of Bengal Tigers in an early morning. The jeep stops suddenly on a canyon creating a great space for silence, and friend of yours nags you from behind and ask you in his lowest voice, even lower than being whisper, asking you is it there ? ? pointing a finger towards a bush in which just a fallen leave courts a relationship with its old friend leave in the plant. If you enjoy such thrill this movie is a Chiken soup for your soul.

Releasing on 07-Oct this movie already has created a grand audi for itself and is on its way to become a next big Mallu-gift to other Woods ( Bollywood / Kollywood / Tollywood ) of the Country. This Movie is absolute entertainer, with a legible Plot.

Plot :Tell me those elements if you have to make a movie out of Super Green Forest. A Noble Tribe, A common Problem, a Saviour or 2, Opium Trade, liquor, Forest Rangers - their Menace, Sandalwood, Suggling. This movie has it all in addition this time the main attraction the common Villain for the Village this time is a Man-eater. Director Vysakh must have decided that you may be just bored watching Man Animal Conflict in a well researched plot, so he adds 2, no 3, no no 4  Villains who are Men too.

Mohanlal sure is the only one in the country who effortlessly can try such a experimental plot, and yet succeed. At Age of 56 he has done some breath taking stunts calling for a standing ovation ( not the Kala Master one, you dumbo ).  He carries the entire load of the movie on his shoulder with peerless screen presence. This movie is one more answer to the curious question, why the industry calls him a Complete actor. The Actor has to be credited to have done the entire 20 mins climax stunt sequence by himself without a Body Double.  The actor direct Lal  too, adds value to the movie my his acting skill.

Personally i am a Fan of Peter Hein, and in this movie his Stunts are the second hero, specially both the fight sequences that come after Interval are Great. And the opening stunt sequence with the Tiger
is excellent. It is the same stunt sequence in which, the Computer graphics and Motion Capture tech team of this movie has set a new high standard for the movie industry of the entire nation.

It is not only Pulimurugan in the movie who carries a sharp edged weapon, the editor has to be appreciated for having one with much sharper edges - Johnkutty Kudos. Shaji Kumar also has created beautiful visuals with his camera, however it follows the rote of angles is many areas. cinematography ( if you have intrest ) would remind you Raavanan ( The Manirathnan one`s ) and Urumi or Ashoka  all from Santosh Sivan`s Lenses. Except that the cinematographer allows the Green to look Greener and not adding a Blue hue to it, is equally appreciable.

Malayalam movie have an edge to undergo a thorough homework and to speak details across every frame, however this movie fails in that expectation, it has meagre contribution to the core plot of Man Vs Animal conflict. Vysakh should have spent his IQ also in eye for detailing for example on a pit stop for ferries on a less explored river, hero is cited to drink a Tea with Milk, but it should have been the Holy Kattanchaya - Black tea. Forest ranger catches a glimpse of suspect ( Lal when returning to his village ) however doesnt notices the Bags filled new clothing with a Logo on it.

Kamalini Mukherjee has played the female protagonist who is sure less irritating than a Big bike guy who tails a Signal behind an Ambulance in Service. Namitha adds Glamour to this like a over sized Hummer kept in a unattended assembly area of a Spencers Mall, both by its significance and volume.

Jagapati babu has lot of good performances to his credit in the past, but this movie does not get into that list. Throughout the movie he walks like his head is tightly bolted to his shoulder blades and in the gruesome pain he fails to remember something called Expression on his face. Morbid is the only word for sum of all expression to sum of all villains in this movie.

The movie is not another movie in this movie, this is something i going to cherish for the days to come. Having said all this, the movie sure is an impish take on Man-Animal conflict, it extends itself being criminal in a scene where the protagonist justifies his act of Killing Tigers, which certainly has my personal Condemnations.

If you going to be watching this movie on bazzaar DVD, or waiting for this Christmas to be telecasted on your Television, be happy being Penny wise. This movie is must watch, Only in theatres
